Product Description
Naturally occuring ether lipid. Reduces myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury [1,2]. Can be used to improve cellular uptake and to reduce toxicity of phosphorothioated antisense oligodeoxyribonucleotides when conjugated at the 3'-end [3]. Inhibits cellular proliferation, anchorage-independent growth and cellular invasion in human prostate cancer cell lines [4].

General Information
BACKGROUND/TECHNICAL INFORMATION

The product was prepared from 2,3-isopropylidene-sn-glycerol of highest purity [[αD20] -15.0°] via alkylation and removal of the isopropylidene protection group. These reactions do not involve the asymmetric carbon at position sn-2 of the glycerol molecule. The purity of the compound considering the apolar C16-chain is better than 98%. The purity of the C16-chain considering the position in the glycerol molecule and the configuration is also better than 98%.
