- Quantitative determination of ADMA in plasma and serum- ONE PLATE - ONE DAY: Easy handling with one plate only; incubation time only 7 hours- Small sample volume needed (40µl per determination)- Excellent correlation to LC/MS- Standards and controls based on ADMA-free plasma- High precision- Good linearity between 0.1µM-3.0µM- No cross-reactivity to L-arginine, SDMA (symmetrical dimethylarginine) or N-Monomethylarginine
Asymmetrical dimethylarginine (ADMA) is an endogenous inhibitor of nitric oxide (NO) synthesis. NO is one of the major endothelium-derived vasoactive mediators and is involved in the modulation of blood flow and blood pressure. Even small changes of the ADMA concentration alter vascular NO production, vascular tone, and systemic vascular resistence. Elevated ADMA concentrations are found in patients with diabetes mellitus, hyperchoesterolemia, hypertension, pulmonary hypertension, peripheral arterial disease, chronic renal failure, preeclampsia or erectile dysfunction. ADMA is therefore a cardiovascular risk factor.
