Abstract
General Information
TRAP5b is claimed to be a specific marker of bone resorption [2-4]. Both osteopontin and bone sialoprotein are colocalized with TRAP5 in the resorption lacuna of osteoclasts and dephosphorylation of osteopontin impair its ability to promote adhesion as well as migration of osteoclasts
in vitro
[5].

General Information
OSF-2 functions as a cell adhesion molecule for pro-osteoblasts and is thought to be involved in osteoblast recruitment, attachment and spreading. Patients with bone metastases from breast (but not lung) cancer show elevated levels of OSF-2. OSF-2 expression is significantly increased by bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2).

Abstract
General Information
Osteoprotegerin (OPG) is a secreted tumor necrosis factor receptor homologue that inhibits osteoclastogenesis and increases bone density in vivo. OPG contains 4 cysteine-rich repeats and 2 ‘death domains’ (DD). OPG binds to RANKL (TRANCE) and with a similar affinity to TRAIL.
