Wheat germ calmodulin sequence is unique in that it contains cysteine (Cys26) and only a single tyrosine (Tyr138), in contrast to mammalian CaMs, which have two tyrosine residues and lack cysteine. Immobilized via SH group (Cys26) (wheat) and amino group (pig) to epoxy activated resin (non-agarose). Thus allowing multiple orientations of bound calmodulin for efficient capture of calmodulin binding proteins.
