Wheat germ calmodulin sequence is unique in that it contains cysteine (Cys²⁶) and only a single tyrosine (Tyr¹³⁸), in contrast to mammalian CaMs, which have two tyrosine residues and lack cysteine. Immobilized via SH group (Cys²⁶) (wheat) and amino group (pig) to epoxy activated resin (non-agarose). Thus allowing multiple orientations of bound calmodulin for efficient capture of calmodulin binding proteins.
