General Information
p51 is a member of the p53 tumor suppressor gene family, which is induced by DNA damage and/or stress stimuli, causing cells to undergo G1-arrest or apoptotic death. Unlike ubiquitous expression of p53, expression of p51 is restricted to a limited number of tissues. The p51 gene encodes two major splicing variants, p51A (448 aa protein with a molecular weight of 50.9kDa) and p51B (641 aa protein with a molecular weight of 71.9kDa), a human homolog of rat Ket. p51A and p51B differ in their carboxyl-terminal structure.
BACKGROUND/TECHNICAL INFORMATION Most of the p51A protein in Jurkat and K562 tumor cell lines is degraded.

General Information

The p53 tumor-suppressor protein prevents cancer development through various mechanisms, including the induction of cell-cycle arrest, apoptosis, and the maintenance of genome stability. TIGAR (TP53-induced glycolysis and apoptosis regulator) has been identified as a novel p53-inducible gene. TIGAR expression decreased fructose-2,6-bisphosphate levels in cells, resulting in an inhibition of glycolysis. In addition, TIGAR expression lowered intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels and protected cells from p53-induced apoptosis. Bensaad et al., proposed that TIGAR modulates the apoptotic response to p53, thereby allowing cells to survive mild or transient stress.

General Information
SIRT1 is a member of the silent information regulator 2 (Sir2) family. It is an NAD+-dependent deacetylase protein that functions in cell death / survival, senescence, and endocrine signaling. It is also involved in the increase of life span following caloric restriction [1]. Recently, the first direct activator of SIRT1 has been described: AROS (active regulator of SIRT1) [2]. This nuclear protein of 142 amino acids interacts with SIRT1 and enhances SIRT1-mediated deacetylation of p53.
MANUFACTURER Manufactured by Apotech Corporation.
