General Information
Rat RELM-α (resistin-like molecule-α/FIZZ1) is a new member to the family of adipocyte-secreted proteins called adipocytokines. Both RELM-α and resistin share high sequence homology in their C-terminal signature domain. However, both fesistin and RELM-α
's
biological function as well as its molecular target is largely unknown. Recombinant rat RELM-α is a 10.5 kDa protein consisting of 89 amino acid residues.

General Information
RELM-β (resistin-like molecule-β; FIZZ2) is a 19 kDa disulfide-linked homodimeric protein expressed in the epithelium of the colon and small bowel. The biological functions of RELM-β, and its molecular targets, are not fully known, but it has been suggested that it plays a regulatory role during inflammation and may also act to establish links among adipose tissue, the intestine and the liver [1]. Interestingly, the molecular structure of RELM-β is highly homologous to that of the adipose-derived cytokine resistin.
