Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase-2 (PARP-2) is required for efficient base excision DNA repair in association with PARP-1 and XRCC1: V. Schreiber, et al.; J. Biol. Chem. 277, 23028 (2002) Abstract; Full Text
General Information
XRCC1 (X-ray repair cross-complementing 1) exerts multiple functions in repairing base damage and frank single strand breaks. These functions include stabilizing DNA ligase 3, bridging the steps in base excision repair (BER) through protein interactions (via its BRCT motif), directly detecting breaks produced by chemical or enzymatic action, coordinating the binding and polymerase activity of DNA polymerase β, promoting an S phase-specific mode of single strand break repair. XRCC1 is specifically associated with poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) and negatively regulates its activity following DNA damage.

Product Description
Produced from the reaction of nitrogen monoxide with tetramethylammonium superoxide according to the method of D.S. Bohle, et al. described in Meth. Enzymol. 269, 302 (1996), and dissolved in 0.01M potassium hydroxide (KOH). This formulation of peroxynitrite has a low nitrite content (~1%), no hydrogen peroxide.
