Product Specific Literature References
Perforin-independent expression of granzyme B and proteinase inhibitor 9 in human testis and placenta suggests a role for granzyme B-mediated proteolysis in reproduction: C.E. Hirst, et al.; Mol. Hum. Reprod. 7, 1133 (2001) Abstract; Full Text
The intracellular granzyme B inhibitor, proteinase inhibitor 9, is up-regulated during accessory cell maturation and effector cell degranulation, and its overexpression enhances CTL potency: C.E. Hirst, et al.; J. Immunol. 170, 805 (2003) Abstract
General Information
The human intracellular serpin proteinase inhibitor 9 (PI9) is the only human protein able to inhibit the activity of the serine protease granzyme B. Granzyme B is expressed by cytotoxic lymphocytes and induces rapid target cell apoptosis.
