SOURCE/HOST:
Isolated from mouse submaxillary glands by a modification of the procedure described by T. Darling, et al.; Cell Culture Meth. Mol. Cell Biol.
4
, 79 (1984).
QUANTITY:
Determined by Lowry and Pierce method.
PURITY:
≥97% (SDS-PAGE)
FORMULATION:
Lyophilized.
RECONSTITUTION:
Dilute in sterile water or DMEM to a concentration of at least 10µg/ml and store at -80°C before use. Medium containing NGF cannot be reused due to NGF degradation.
BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY:
Bioassayed for neurotrophic activity using the rat pheochromocytoma cell PC12 cultures over a period of 7-14 days. Neurotrophic activity is in the range of 0.5-50ng/ml. Recommended concentration to be used
in vitro
for maintenance of sympathetic and immature sensory nerve cells is 50-100ng/ml medium (See [2]).
SHIPPING:
SHIPPED ON BLUE ICE
LONG TERM STORAGE:
-20°C
USE/STABILITY:
Stable for 2-3 weeks when stored at room temperature. After reconstitution, store for up to one week at +4°C and for 4-6 weeks at -80°C.
HANDLING:
Avoid freeze/thaw cycles. After reconstitution, prepare aliquots and store at -80°C.
