General Information
SEL1L (suppressor of lin-12-like protein) is the human ortholog of the
C. elegans
sel-1 gene, a negative regulator of the lin-12/Notch family of proteins. Human SEL1L is a component of endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation (ERAD), involved in ubiquitin-dependent degradation of misfolded ER proteins. In addition, SEL1L plays a role in cancer progression. Several studies provided significant evidence that increased SEL1L expression is linked to a decrease in tumor aggressiveness.
