Product Description
This antioxidant assay is designed to measure the overall antioxidant capacity within a given sample. The assay relies on the ability of antioxidants in the sample to inhibit the oxidation of ABTS in comparison to trolox, a water-soluble tocopherol analog. By quantifying the cumulative effect of all antioxidants present, more relevant biological information is acquired compared with the measurement of individual components alone. The assay relies on the ability of antioxidants in the sample to inhibit the oxidation of ABTS® (2,2’-azino-di-[3-ethylbenzthiazoline sulphonate]) to ABTS®·+ by metmyoglobin.

Product Description
The assay is designed to detect ADP/ATP ratio. The changes in ADP/ATP ratios have been used to conveniently differentiate apoptosis from necrosis.
The assay utilizes bioluminescent detection of ADP and ATP levels for rapid screening of apoptosis, necrosis, growth arrest and cell proliferation simultaneously in mammalian cells. The assay utilizes the enzyme luciferase to catalyze the formation of light fom ATP and luciferin. The light can be measured using a luminometer or beta counter. ADP levels are measured by its conversion to ATP that is subsequently detected using the same reaction.
This highly sensitive assay (detects 100 mammalian cells/well) can be fully automated for high throughput measurements. The ADP/ATP ratio assay offers highly consistent results, with excellent correlation to other apoptosis markers (e. g. TUNEL-based techniques and caspase assays).

Provides an accurate and convenient method for measurement of total nitrate/nitrite concentration in a simple two-step process. First step: conversion of nitrate to nitrite utilizing nitrate reductase. Second step: addition of Griess reagents and photometric measurement.

The kit includes sufficient reagents for measuring of total NO (nitrate + nitrite) in 2x96 wells, together with a third 96 well plate for measurement of nitrite only.

Product Description
The assay of nitroso-thiols in many biological fluids, appears to provide a very useful index of NOS activity. The concentration of RSNOs has been shown to increase with localized induction of NOS and to fall rapidly upon administration of NOS inhibitors.
The kit provides a complete solution for the assay of high or low MW RSNOs. The assay is divided essentially into two steps. In the first step, the sample is prepared according to which subgroup of RSNO is desired. The S-N bond is then cleaved, resulting in the formation of an equivalent of nitrite, which is assayed using the Griess reaction. The intensity of the color formed is linearly related to the concentration of nitrite, and hence, to the original RSNO concentration.

Measuring NOS activity by monitoring the conversion of L-arginine to L-citrulline is currently the standard assay for NOS activity in both crude and purified enzyme preparations. Advantages of the NOSdetect™ Assay Kit (Stratagene) include the use of radioactive substrates ([3H]-arginine or [14C]arginine) that enable sensitivity to the picomole level, as well as the specificity of the assay for the NOS pathway due to the direct enzymatic conversion of L-arginine to L-citrulline in eukaryotic cells. The sensitivity of measuring thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) has made this assay the method of choice for screening and monitoring lipid peroxidation, which is a major indication of oxidative stress. Malondialdehyde (MDA) forms a 1:2 adduct with thiobarbituric acid; the adduct can be measured by fluorometry. Biological specimens contain a mixture of TBARS, including lipid hydroperoxides and aldehydes. In practice, TBARS are expressed in equivalent numbers to MDA.
