General Information
The myeloid differentiation antigen CD14 acts as the major receptor for bacterial LPS. The dominant form of the recombinant wildtype CD14 ist the 50kDa protein.
The CD14 glycoprotein, gp 55, is present on most monocytic and macrophage like cell types: monocytes, macrophages, Kupffer cells, pleural phagocytic cells and dendritic reticular cells. CD14 is also observed on granulocytes and activated or transformed B-cells. Furthermore it is present in a soluble form in mouse serum, urine and other body fluids.

General Information
The CD27 receptor (CD27, Tp55) is a member of the tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNF-R) family. CD27 is a type I transmembrane receptor, it contains 3 extracellular cysteine-rich motifs. CD27 is mainly expressed on T and B lymphocytes, and its expression is increased on T cells by the engagement of the T cell receptor complex. Engagement of CD27 induces recruitment of TNF receptor-associated factor 2 (TRAF2) and TRAF3. CD27-CD70 have been reported to be involved in several different immune mechanisms such as T, NK and B lymphocytes interactions and costimulation, early thymic differentiation, autoimmune and viral diseases and apoptosis.

General Information
The CD30 receptor (CD30, Ki-1) is a member of the tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNF-R) family. CD30 is a type I transmembrane receptor, it contains 6 extracellular cysteine-rich motifs, is shed by the TNFα-converting enzyme and is associated with the Reed-Sternberg cells of Hodgkins disease as well as with T cells and some lymphomas. Activated CD30 recruits TNF receptor-associated factor 1, 2, 3 and 5. CD30-CD30L have been reported to be involved in costimulation of T cell proliferation, induction of HIV expression, negative selection and apoptosis as well as in diabetes and several allergic, viral and autoimmune diseases.

General Information
COMP (Cartilage Oligomeric Matrix Protein) also designated thrombospondin 5 (TSP 5) is an oligomeric protein synthesized by chondrocytes in all type of cartilage. It belongs to the thrombospondin family of extracellular proteins. It is a pentameric molecule forming a structure similar to a bouquet of flowers. It may have storage and delivery function for hydrophobic cell-signalling molecules such as vitamin D.
COMP is a calcium-binding protein composed of 5 identical disulfide-linked subunits of 755 amino acids each with a high percentage of acidic residues (30%). The molecular weight of the homopentamer is 524 kDa, as determined by sedimentation equilibrium ultracentrifugation. Each subunit is composed of an N-terminal coiled-coil domain (unique to COMP), four epidermal growth factor (EGF)-type repeats, followed by eight calmodulin-like repeats and a globular C-terminal domain. The C-terminal domain binds to collagens I, II and IX.
Chimeras composed of proteins fused to the pentamerization domain of COMP (aa 32-75) show an increased avidity compared to the protein alone.
