General Information
BAP31 (B cell receptor-associated protein 31) is an integral protein of the ER membrane that forms a large hetero-oligomeric complex with the related BAP29. The cytosolic domain of BAP31 contains two identical caspase recognition sites that are preferentially cleaved by initiator caspases, including caspase-8. After activation of cell surface death receptors, human BAP31 is cleaved into a membrane-embedded fragment called p20, which induces apoptosis when expressed ectopically. The p20 fragment can mediate Ca2+-dependent apoptotic cross-talk between the ER and mitochondria, stimulating cytochrome c release. In addition to its role in apoptosis, BAP31 is a component of the ER quality control compartment and functions as a cargo receptor for ER export of transmembrane proteins such as cellubrevin, MHC class I molecules, and cytochrome P450 2C2.

General Information
The interactions between tumor cells and laminin or other components of the extracellular matrix have been shown to play an important role in tumor invasion and metastasis. They are mediated by different cell surface molecules such as the 67kD laminin receptor (67LR; laminin receptor 1), a protein derived from a smaller precursor, the 37LRP. In addition to its role as laminin receptor, 67LR also acts as a receptor for viruses and is involved with internalization of the prion protein.

General Information
This antibody detects the human intracellular serpin, PI-6 (SERPIN B6), which is present in granulocytes to control the azurophilic granule protease, cathepsin G. PI-6 is also found in a variety of epithelia and neural cells. The anti-PI-6 MAb is a mouse monoclonal for use in ELISA, immunoprecipitation and FACS applications.

General Information
BACKGROUND/TECHNICAL INFORMATION Technical Note: There are three mammalian isoforms of Akt: Akt1 (PKBα), Akt2 (PKBβ), and Akt3 (PKBγ). Akt1 shares 81% and 83% aa identity with Akt2 and Akt3, respectively. Although the three isoforms show broad tissue distribution, Akt1 is most ubiquitously expressed. Akt2 is expressed at a lower level than Akt1 except in insulin-responsive tissues where it predominates. Akt2 is more abundant and more highly activated than Akt1 in adipocytes. Akt3 is expressed at the lowest level except in testes and brain. The C-terminal sequence of the three isoforms are shown below. The phosphorylation site slightly differs, thus the phosphorylation site Ser473 of Akt1 corresponds to Ser474 in Akt2 and Ser472 in Akt3.
