The genus Listeria is comprised of six species: L. monocytogenes, L. ivanovii, L. innocua, L. welshimeri, L. seeligeri, and L. grayi. All Listeria species are widely found in nature as well as in many food industry related applications. Among these species, L. monocytogenes is known to infect humans, causing sepsis, meningitis, or encephalitis. This organism can be classified as an important opportunistic infectious agent which is becoming an emerging problem in public hygiene. In order to prevent L. monocytogenes infection, prescreening of processed food with a reliable diagnostic kit is necessary.
The AdipoGen Listeria monocytogenes SURE mono ELISA Kit is an easy, ready-to-use system to specifically identify L. monocytogenes. The system relies on the outstanding mononclonal capture-antibody p6007 (Prod. No. ALX-804-705) that recognizes specifically the secretory enzyme p60 of L. monocytogenes and a polyclonal antibody recognizing pan p60 (Prod. No. ALX-210-415) as the secondary antibody. p6007 discriminates L. monocytogenes from the other Listeria species.
