General Information

MMP-9 hydrolyzes the extracellular matrix, e.g. collagen types IV, V and IX and gelatin. Product 200-424 represents the 130kDa disulfide-bridged complex of the monomer and a 25kDa protein of the lipocalin family and displays homology with the α₂-macroglobulin-related protein from rats. The human MMP-9/lipocalin complex was shown to be associated with adult and localized juvenile periodontitis.
