Product Description
Programmed cell death (PCD) also occurs in bacteria. PCD in E. coli depends on cell-to-cell communication, a process known as quorum sensing. The communicating cells produce and emit the extracellular death factor (EDF). After reaching a sufficent concentration, EDF activates the cell death pathway in a subset of cells.

General Information
Dectin-1 is a type II transmembrane protein and a member of the group V C-type lectin-like receptors [1]. Dectin-1 is present on myeloid cells, including macrophages, DCs and neutrophils, and it is also present on certain lymphocytes. Dectin-1 recognises β-1,3-glucans in a calcium-independent fashion. Through its specificity for β-glucans, Dectin-1 can recognize a number of fungal species and may play an important role in antifungal immunity [2].
