Product Description
This antioxidant assay is designed to measure the overall antioxidant capacity within a given sample. The assay relies on the ability of antioxidants in the sample to inhibit the oxidation of ABTS in comparison to trolox, a water-soluble tocopherol analog. By quantifying the cumulative effect of all antioxidants present, more relevant biological information is acquired compared with the measurement of individual components alone. The assay relies on the ability of antioxidants in the sample to inhibit the oxidation of ABTS
®
(2,2’-azino-di-[3-ethylbenzthiazoline sulphonate]) to ABTS
®·+
by metmyoglobin.
