Antibiotic. Specific and potent inhibitor of NADH-ubiquinone oxidoreductase (complex I) that binds to ubiquinone binding site(s). Anticancer agent that prevents up-regulation of GRP78, and exhibits cytotoxic activity for etoposide resistant cancer cells under glucose-deprived conditions.
